If anyone is wondering what the recent explosions are in the Steelhead area, it is Hydro’s Interior to Lower Mainland Transmission Line Project. They are stringing the transmission line (conductors) and the conductor ends are being joined with the use of an implosive connector. The compression or welding of the implosive connector is a split second process that creates a flash with smoke and a bang similar to fireworks. This will be occurring during the month of February.

As part of this work, helicopters are in use primarily along the right of way of the ILM.
